Azeem's Life Today
Azeem at Home Sweet Home
Now Azeem is 10 and in 4rd grade, Life skills classroom.
He goes to school in wheel chair
He loves to crawl and explore the things around him
He is nonverbal but we managed to teach him few signs for his needs, his cognitive skills are like 15 months old child, so teaching sign language is also a big challenge for us.
He goes to physio, occupational, speech and feeding therapies.
He enjoys summer with swimming and horse back ridding
He gets one seizure a day, that is his baseline. So our day starts or ends wintnesing his seizures.
Azeem is on various medications for his seizures.
Azeem needs followup visits for every two months with Nuerologist and GI specialist and lab work everymonth to check medicine levels in his blood.
We are making sure to get the highest possible treatment for his condition.

2010 plans and update :
Azeem is doing good with physical activities but seizures are becoming a big issue. Few days back, we have changed his siezures medication which is recently approved by FDA, only a handful of patients in USA are taking this medication. So we hesitated to start. At the same time, we understand technology has changed alot since Azeem's diagnosis, now very effective medication with less side effects are available for epilepsy, we spoke to Azeem's nuerologist and started this new medication. I am glad we decided to try. Azeem is doing really great since then .
We planned to go Morgan's wonderland (world's first ultra accessible Family Fun park for kids with special needs and aslo to sea world .
As we planned we did not make it to Morgan's Wonder Land nor to Sea World, the summer was gone very fast in blink of an eye.
Azeem did enjoyed swimming and he is still on waiting list of horse ridding.
Azeem practiced to walk, eat and he had long long afternoon naps.
We did not do much of out doors as we planned, but I am sure we had much more fun than we planned
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
Fall : In fall 2010 we made it for Morgan's wonderland ,For first time Azeem was able to ride carousel ,it was fun ......
Spring 2011 : Azeem now started Hippotherapy (Hose back riding for kids with special needs ) doing very well
we are really proud of our little soldier
Summer 2011
Azeem enjoyed summer school , horse backriding ,since Azeem is heat sensitive he spend lot of time indoors but had special time with his twin brother Azeez .we moved to closest city this summer ,moving and changing schools are very challenging for all of us.
It will take teachers couple of months to know Azeem .It is 3months already and Azeem adjusted in new school environment .
Azeem's teacher is very imp part of our life ,since Azeem is noverbal I never got to know how his day was in school but everyday I hear, see and feel about Azeem's day at school in his teahcer's words.
people may get bore of same routine life everyday but for us same routine life is gift because each day is different with new challenges ,every day is learning experience for us ........we explore and overcome obsticles as they come in our way.
