Azeem's diagnosiss-Microcephaly:
Azeem started to behave abnormal, since he is premature and his birth weight is 950 gms already we have fear of developmental delays so our pediatrician recommended for MRI and EEG and all of these test results were abnormal.
MRI showed "significant prominence of the sulvi and ventricles consistent with central volume loss with very abnormal increased signal intensity on flair images thoughout the majority of the white matter in the brain very thin abnormal callosum which does appear grossly intact"
EEG is abnormal due to the presence of generalized high amplitude slowing and multifocal spike and wave activity.
Since Azeem shared same placenta with his twin brother. Azeem had lack of oxyzen and nutrition, generally implications of this are very serious for the survival and health of one of the twin. It occurs in one in a thousand pregnancies.
Azeem's head size is smaller and he has global developmental delays which defines microcephaly.
Doctor's never expected him to progress because of such a complicated MRI and EEG findings
but we wanted to do our level best so we started our challenging jouney with faith in God.
Azeem did very well and he responded to the therapies and treatment. It looked like our efforts are paying off.
I never forget the day when Azeem was walking in the doctor's office holding my hand. His doctor felt as if he was seeing a miracle.
Because of seizures, Azeem's development goes back and forth but we never give up. It was the first step which looked hard for us but now we got use to the path and know the directions ...............
“Happiness is not the absence of problems but the ability to deal with them.”
