Who Iam
Hi,
This is Azeem's mom
Thankyou for visiting Azeem's website, microcephaly is a rare brain disorder which is not treatable
People ask me if this is genetic, Azeem's condition is not genetic.
I learned, never think why and how it happened -----only look what we need to do now.
Depression is the biggest challenge for me, but after meeting with other parents just like us and listening to their experiences has helped me a lot.
I stopped thinking about what I do not have and started to enjoy what I have right now
in no time happiness and joy came in my way.
I played different roles according to my family needs. At the beginning it looked tough but not impossible.
-----After Azeem's diagnosis I completely dedicated myself to my family. But taking care of child with special needs will bring financial stress too. We have a big pile of medical bills to take care of. So I started working.
For some extent it helped us to overcome our financial needs but I realised that we have very less time to spend with Azeem and Azeez. In march 2007, when Azeem was hospitalized, I left my job and again became a full time mom and Azeem's dad started to work on weekends too....
---------Since Azeez (Azeem's twin brother)did not have a chance to talk, play and explore the life with his brother ,I try my level best to take some special time out for Azeez (make sure to listen to his concerns .... )
Iam very proud of Azeez that last year Azeez took initiative and started special needs sibbling support group in his school ,his school principal was very much impressed with this 4th grader.
------living with child who have multiple disabilities is not easy in our society, sometimes I am a mobile answering mechine for people's crazy questions.
The main intention of creating this website is to share our experiences and challenges we are facing. If you are a parent with special kids feel free to contact us. We will be happy to help you as much as we can.
I would like to thank all of my friends and family members for all the support and help all these years.
We cannot imagine our journey without Azeem's teachers, therapists and social & special services
To one and all ---Thanks many more times!
I will update this website oftenly ,
hope to see you all again
affectionately,
Sameena
